Honoria
in Ciberspazio is a groundbreaking network collaboration, a cyberopera in
the process of being composed by a worldwide group of net denizens that
currently numbers over 60 contributors. The opera's characters sing and
type their words into the constant flow of Internet information in a kind
of fragmented net communication that leads to misunderstandings, complex
philosophical positioning, confrontations, danger and love. Original music
is being composed by Wing Commander game composer George Oldziey. The project
was a 1998 semi-finalist in the Global Information Infrastructure (GII)
Arts and Entertainment Awards for innovation in demonstrating meaningful
potential of the Internet and a finalist in the Global Bangemann Challenge,
as well as winning the 1998 Texas Interactive Media Achievement Award. The
project is headed for a 2001 premiere at the World Shakespeare Congress
in Valencia, Spain.
