JANE
PROPHET is a British artist working with video and digital media. The TechnoSphere project, done in collaboration with
Mark Hurry
and
Gordon Selley,
is a unique 3D model world inhabited by artificial lifeforms
created by web users, who can then track their creature's subsequent life
within its simulated world. TechnoSphere has been shown at the ICA, London,
and was nominated for the Imaginaria prize. Prophet's other web-accessible
work includes Swarm and The Internal Organs of the Cyborg (http://www.virtual-ego.net),
which plays with narrative structure. Prophet's work is concerned with the
ways in which new media technologies are changing relationships between
audience, artifact and gallery, and it builds on her background in installation
and performance work.
