REBECCA ALLEN is director of "Emergence," an Intel-funded research
project and Founding Co-director, Center for Digital Arts (CDA). She is
an internationally recognized artist, designer, and pioneer of projects
involving computer animation, interactive
media, and live multimedia performances. Allen has received commissions
for work from the city of Barcelona; Taejon World Expo '93; Seville World
Expo '92; Rebo High Definition Studios; TVE, TV3, and Animatica and Art
Futura in Spain. Clients include CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS/Nova, Warner, Mattel,
Phillips, Apple's Vivarium Project, and Island Records. She was a member
of the Architecture Machine Group at MIT, now known as the Media Lab, and
of the Computer Graphics Lab at New York Institute of Technology, and was
creative director and executive producer at Virgin Interactive Entertainment.
Awards include an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement, and Japan's
Nicograph Award for Artistic and Technical Excellence. Her work has been
published, televised, performed, and exhibited internationally, and is part
of the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum of Art in New York, Centre
Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Ludwig Museum in Cologne.
