Wall of Sound: Family Day

Enjoy hands-on art and science projects and experience an introduction to new media art relating to the Beall Center's exhibition "Wall of Sound." Family Day offers demonstrations by local companies in manufacturing, programming, engineering, optics, and design.

Scheduled Activities include:

- University Art Gallery Exhibition 12pm-6pm

Artricks
Optricks by Dr. Donn the Wizard of Light Discover light and its “magical” properties from the Optics Institute of Southern California, and Optical Society of Southern California. Hands-on throughout the day. Presentations at 11:30pm and 12:30pm In Winifred Smith Hall.

Learn about 3D Modeling and Lasers
Learn of new and amazing advancements in manufacturing, production and design, and create objects to take home using physics of plastics, lasers, and circuitry. Hands-on throughout the day. Create and Launch Rockets Madly Making Orange (OC Mini Maker Faire Producers) will be helping you create and launch paper rockets. How high will it soar? Hands-on throughout the day.

Robotics Demonstration Presented by Mathobotix Inc.
Inspiring an appreciation of science and technology in young people and supporting grade level academic learning by using educational robotics as a progressive learning platform. Sign-up for classes at the Mathobotix booth or inside the Beall Center (for ages 6 - 18 years).

3D Printer Demonstrations Presented by Factory eNova
A membership based laser engraving and 3D printing studio that provides equipment, space and professional service to design custom projects as well as create a more hands-on environment for learning current and inspiring new laser and 3D printing processes.

Programming Made Fun & Easy Use Scratch
Presented by Savoy Academy. An MIT visual programming environment offering computer programming and fine arts courses for K-12 students focused on cultivating creative, analytical and problem-solving thinking required for 21st century skills. Hands-on throughout the day.

Plus, additional arts and technology projects around the Arts Plaza all day.

Cyber-A Café & Specialty Food Truck Offering lunch, coffee/tea, and grab-n-go items from $3 to $10. Complimentary waters and fruit provided by the Beall Center.

Family Day is a FREE event for all ages.
