Media Alchemy Nam June Paik
|
October 2– December 5, 2009 As part of an ongoing comment to exhibiting various areas of experimental media arts, the Beall Center is proud to show a selection of work by world renowned and pioneering video artist, Nam June Paik (1932-2006). This exhibition will look at Paik’s way of encountering the body. Many of Paik’s most compelling works especially since the 90’s were the body/robot works. Paik’s transformations explore the sculptural and screen elements of the television. His works were more centered on the television and its image than just the image on the screen. He never wanted us to forget “the box.” His sculptural/video approach would be one of the strong influences on future generations of artists creating video installations. |

January 8 – May 7, 2010 ThisExhibition features international artists exploring both the biological and computational manifestations of emergent behavior arising from dynamically changing, interactive sculptures. We as human beings are created and create through a process of emergence. Whether these emergent forms originate organically or are man-made, they can illustrate to us the rich variety of mutating systems with all their variety and ability to adapt to a changing world. |
