Children and families of all ages are invited to enjoy free, hands-on art and science activities at UC Irvine’s Beall Center Family Day on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
The event offers a “kid-friendly” introduction to new media art relating to the Beall Center’s current exhibit, “MORPHONANO.” The Beall Center Family Day will include interesting art projects, and amazing hands-on demonstration by local high-tech companies in manufacturing, engineering, and design. The Optics Institute of Southern California will present their “Artricks-Optricks” program, which teaches principles of light, vision, and other optical phenomena in a fun and engaging way.
Through Family Day activities, the Beall Center seeks to stir the imagination and motivate young people to delve into the basics of science, computer programming, and visual literacy—skills that will be critical to the next generation’s success in the workplace and in life.
